Five Things David Goggins is Famous for and why you Should Care

Reading Can't Hurt Me by David Goggins is the punch in the face we all need. David's story is so powerful that it wakes us from our cosy slumber and gets us to confront our demons. All this discomfort is in service to helping ourselves push our limits and discover the rivers of untapped potential within us.

Can't Hurt Me has given me the tools to ask hard questions of myself and challenge the little voices in my head. You know, the representatives of self-doubt and lack of accountability.

David Goggins was severely overweight as a child and young adult, weighing up to 300 pounds. He lost weight and got in shape through a combination of diet and exercise, and he has since become a highly accomplished endurance athlete and Naval Officer.

  1. David Goggins is an American ultramarathon runner, ultra-distance cyclist, triathlete, and former United States Navy SEAL. He is known for his endurance and toughness and has set numerous endurance records.
  2. Goggins is the only member of the "40% Club," a group of people who have completed the Navy SEAL "Hell Week" (a gruelling week of training that is known for its high dropout rate) more than once.
  3. Goggins has completed more than 60 ultra-marathons, including the Badwater Ultramarathon (considered one of the toughest foot races in the world) and the Leadville Trail 100 (a 100-mile race through the Colorado Rockies).
  4. Goggins has also completed numerous Ironman triathlons and has set a Guinness World Record for the most pull-ups completed in 24 hours (4,025).
  5. Goggins is known for his motivational speaking and has written several books, including "Can't Hurt Me: Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds," which became a New York Times bestseller.

In 2013, Goggins set a world record for the most miles run in 48 hours, with 202.50 miles.
